We have run a few quizzes before, and they have been fun, so with the 2019 World Cup starting soon in Khanty-Mansiysk, let’s have another. I say it’s for fun, but there is a winner-takes-all prize.
Quality Chess will send a box of 20 books to your home. 10 of them chosen by you, 10 of them chosen by us. All you have to do is to predict some results in the World Cup. We will contact the winner once the World Cup is over and organize the shipment of the prize.
Cut-off date for submissions is Tuesday 10th September at 11:00 UK time (15:00 Khanty-Mansiysk Local Time). To enter click on this link and select your answers. Only one entry per person please. Good luck!
Thanks for setting this up John. The form made it very easy to enter.
I also found this link helpful too when answering the questions:

@James2
You are welcome, though I should say the form was set up mainly by Kallia, not me.
And yes that wiki page looks very helpful. For example, my top tip for all entrants is to make sure your 4 predicted semifinalists are in different quarters of the pairings.
I had already picked my semi-finalists when realizing it would be wise to check what Mr Shaw just said above. Luckily for me, Ding, Grischuk, Karjakin and Nepo were all in different brackets!
Might as well just send those books my way right now. This is in the bag.
@Seth
In fact, Ding Liren – Grischuk and Karjakin – Nepomiachtchi are only possible in quarter-finals.
After answering the questions I got an email with all my answers. However, in the email there is no choice selected for the multiple choice questions (1,2,3,11,12,13,17). I tried it a second time with the same answers, but it still didn’t work.
Anyone else had the same problem?
@Tom
Hi Tom,
It’s all working fine (we tested it here) but it will be your email settings that are not allowing you to see your own selections.
I guess you have your email as “text-only” when you probably need HTML to see the x in your selected box. On most webmails (if they are text-only) you can choose to Forward the email and select “HTML composition” (or some similar phrase with HTML) then you will see your own selections (no need to actually forward the email, just look at the draft).
In any case, I am sure we will have safely received your selections.
Hello, when are we know the winner of the quality chess quiz ?
Be interested to hear what the winning score was here. A tournament of surprises right to the end. Congratulations to Radjabov – a very formidable competitor in this format.
Any news on the winner? Pretty sure it was not me, even though I had Radjabov in the final 4.

@Pksankaran
Yes, we announced the quiz winners. Though so far only 3 of the 5 winners have replied to our congratulatory emails.
