Now it’s time for this exercise. 😉
The most obvious attempt 1. Nxf7?? lost after 1… Qe3+ 2. Kh1 Nf2+ and black gives a smothered mate. So the unprotected knight has to stay on g5. Therefore let’s play 1. h4! Now it is white, who mates after 1… Qxh4?? 2. Qe8+ Rf8 3. Qe6+ Kh8 4. Nf7+ and again a smothered mate follows.
Only looked very shortly at it, so please don’t laugh at the suggestion Rf1. If black exchanges the rook and the white king takes back, it seems to me that black’s best try is Qc6 which loses immediately. White’s threats just seem horrible after Rf1.

Nobody is laughing at anyone on this site. I think exchanging on f1 and …Qf6+ gives Black the advantage. I see at least a perpetual check.
Morgain is right. Kritz-Sadorra, Dallas 22.11.2013. It went all the way to smothered mate. There is no real defence for Black to 1.Qd5.
Very cute how either side could get a smothered mate.
