Jacob Aagaard seminar in Wewelsburg, Germany 10-13 May 2018

Lots of messages lately are about requests for training with Jacob. So, you will be happy to know that there will be a seminar in Germany 10-13/5/2018 in the Wewelsburg.

The entry fee for adults is 259€ and for youngsters (U-18) is 229€.  If there are more than 3 from one chess club, each of those participants get a 30 € discount. The fee includes application -participation in the Seminar, 2 coupons over 15 euros for Lunch, plus water and coffee during the lectures. The only condition of participation is ELO 1800+. This seminar is for advanced players and masters, but if you are under ELO 1800 and highly motivated, you can still apply. There is room for only 30 participants.

The teaching would be done on a wide perspective. The things an 1800 player needs to understand and improve on are not different from what a 2600 player needs to improve on. Jacob uses the same principles with beginners as he does when he trains 2600 and 2700 players. Our brains work in the same way after all.

There are things that a 2600 player can do that will take a while for an 1800 player to understand. But it can be explained. At times these explanations will be a bit superfluous for the 2600 player, but most of the time, people actually understand things at not that different speed. It is working things out on our own which is difficult.

Jacob organises the exercises he gives out to larger groups in such a way that they get progressively difficult. Let’s say you have an hour to work through them. Some players will get through 3-4 exercises. The 2600 player will meet no resistance before the second sheet – where he will find it!

The seminar is organised by Nino Tschöpe and he is in charge for the whole thing. More details about the seminar and how to contact Nino you can find here http://englisch.schachseminar-jacob-aagaard.de/index.php.

ChessBase India has published an article about Jacob’s visit to the Dibyendu Barua Academy in December.

  1. This will be conducted in English? (I’m guessing so as the flyer is in English, but didn’t seem to say explicitly)

  2. You could also check the bigger airports Düsseldorf International and Köln/Bonn. They have better and often cheaper flight connections. You can reach the railway stations in Paderborn, Lippstadt, Geseke and Salzkotten without or with one railway change in about two hours from Düsseldorf. Maybe Hannover airport is also possible, but with a longer railway travel.

  3. If anybody needs help, just contact me. From the Paderborn-Lippstadt airport I can pick you up. It is 5 km from the wewelsburg. If you arrive in Dortmund Airport I can help you to organize the transfer from Dortmund to the wewelsburg/Paderborn with Bus or train. The same goes for any other Airport in Germany.
On the Website I gave 3 different options for Accommodation. I will organize a transfer to come from those places to the wewelsburg where the seminar takes place. So you will not need a car. We will pick you up in the morning and bring you back in the evening.
So just contact me via email, or directly on the website.

  4. @John Shaw
This looks like it is going to be a very interesting book. Hopefully the three books currently in the WIP will be released at the same time for a nice hat-trick for QC……

  5. Definitely a must have book for me! Are there any news about the woodpecker book? Would be nice if it will be released before the seminar 🙂

  6. Hi Jacob! You are famous everywhere in the world! I am a New Zealander working in Saudi Arabia. I am rated FIDE 2150 but inactive so my actual strength is below.
Any places still available (24 Feb 2018)?

  7. Will the new two e4 books by Mr Shaw be purchasable by the time of the seminar? Would be a nice possibility to get them both for the price of one?

  8. Perhaps you could think of it as buying two books for the price of one – which happens to cost twice as much as normal.
But maybe Jacob has some secret plan to give books away at the seminar – I have no idea.
