Quality Chess Academy

Jacob’s academy on Crete in November now has a live website with the possibility of registration. At the moment the camp is sponsored by American Chess Magazine and Quality Chess. It offers a chance to train with grandmasters Jacob Aagaard and Boris Gelfand at around €1000 for a week, all-inclusive, depending on which room and which view you are attracted to!

With 400 meters of beach and good weather in November, this is your chance to get everything right!

Sound really great – may be next year – a great incentive to get over 2300…

Thank you Quality Team for publishing Playing the Sicilian Kalashnikov as Black 🙂

On chesspub Tony Rotella wrote (thread: Re: The Killer Sicilian by Tony Rotella, Reply #442 – yesterday at 20:19:00):

“…I have a few new ideas in this line that deviate quite a bit earlier – I have been meaning to share them on my YouTube channel for a while now, but also somewhat holding out due to the fact that a 2nd edition was briefly discussed with another publisher, and a possible Chessable repertoire is bouncing around in my dome.”

    @Stephen Jiang
There are no plans to hold it in the US. Essentially, it is cheaper to fly from the US to this fabulous resort and participate, then it would be for the participants to pay fees in the US.

I’d even buy this book again with the same content, if it was just properly edited – it takes me forever to navigate in it… And of course the author’s name should spelled correctly on the side-cover would be nice, but that’s just a minor (yet indicative) typo 🙂

I wasn’t sure were to write the comment, but this is the most recent post unter “Publishing Schedule”, so I will just ask here:
On the page of GM Repertoire 6 is written, that it’s replaced by two books where one is “Playing the Najdorf” and is/was announced with “Playing the Najdorf is planned for late 2017 or 2018.”

Is there any progress regarding the book?
And will it again be Najdorf-Scheveninger Style?
Aaaaaaaand my final question (I hope I have three questions free 😉 ):
Will there be any change in the suggestions against 6. Bg5?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Congrats to QC on a really amazing idea. Immensely tempted to explode my bank account for one of these training sessions. 😉

We cannot force the authors to deliver on time. Life sometimes are more important than books. But progress is being made and the book should be out in the first part of 2019 if I understand the author and editor correctly. But please do not hold me to that. We can only publish what people write…

Do come. If you look at the details and see how few people have signed up, you will know that this is a chance in a lifetime to have this close interaction with Boris.

Unfortunately this one clashes with my vacation to NYC for Eric Clapton @ Madison Square Garden. I know for sure eventually a location + some great chess training will lure me out of my cave and reclusive lifestyle. While all these lucky people are training with Boris, I’ll be battling with the Washington Square Park hustles in the cold. 😉
