The Thinkers on the way

David Llada’s beautiful photography book The Thinkers was unfortunately delayed at the printers in Barcelona, but it is ready now. Any remaining websales should be sent out tomorrow. Apologies if you have been waiting impatiently, but David’s work of art is worth the wait.

As I mentioned in a previous blog comment, if you ordered our three new books at the same time, then we posted the first two already, and the third one, The Thinkers, will follow now.

A recurring question from those who have not seen The Thinkers yet is: “Who is in it?” Or more personally: “Am I in it?” Well, I am not photographed in it, but you might be. Below the fold is a list, in alphabetical order of surname, of those who are portrayed in the book. Guess who is first?

Tania is a very nice person, but David had to go with good looks… Anyway, no worries, John’s list is flawed, Tania is in there too as I recall. John will no doubt verify!

I can verify Tania is in the book, but the list above looks fine to me. The name ‘Tania Sachdev’ is right there and always has been.

I got the list from David Llada, so it should be reliable, though oversights are always possible.

  3. Just being cheeky. Could see Tania was in the list. David seems to have all the top names and the characters eg Chuck, Ljubo etc. Jennifer Shahade excluded as all pics in black and white?

  4. I believe that the cover of “The Thinkers” would have made up a very nice cover for “Thinking in the Box” as well.

  5. By the way, the most prominent miss-outs (in terms of current playing strength) must be: Anish Giri, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Ding Liren. That Anish is missing was kind of surprising for me, as his wife is featured at least three times when I recall correctly.

    … *inside* the Box” obviously.

  7. Just bought Thinkers as a present for my wife to give me as a xmas pressie as it represents a chess book she won’t roll her eyes at and make her grumble about cluttering up the house with ‘MORE chess books’ just in case anyone else is in the same predicament. Cover looks beautiful but have resisted the temptation to look further to make it a proper treat on xmas day.
    Go on, spoil yourselves.
PS this is NOT the book to buy on Forward Chess!
